Harbor Distinctives

Below is a glimpse into some of the teachings and practices that make our church what it is.

For more detailed information on our doctrines, read the 1689 2nd London Baptist Confession
which we have adopted as the statement of our doctrinal conviction and an excellent summary of the major teachings of the Word of God.

  • Reformed

    A broad term, but this includes holding to the authority and sufficiency of scripture, the sovereignty of God, salvation by grace through faith, and covenantal theology.

  • Baptist

    Those who repent, have faith in, and obey Jesus Christ should be baptized under water and rise again, passing from death to life in Him.

  • Elder Led

    We recognize a plurality of elders and deacons, men qualified for the offices, according to 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

  • Regulative Principle of Worship

    We strive to worship God as He has said to worship. It is a simple liturgy without pomp, but with Spirit and Truth: reading and preaching the Bible, singing hymns and psalms, prayer, and monthly observation of the Lord's Supper.

  • Membership

    Being a part of the body means support, encouragement, discipline, and a shared path as we follow Christ. This is the doctrine of adoption made tangible in our age.

  • Networked

    As Baptists, we have a local church polity, but as part of RB Net (The Reformed Baptist Network) we directly support missionaries spreading the gospel here in the US and abroad.

    The network also offers support and counsel should difficulties or differences arise.

  • Prayer

    Every Wednesday, we gather for prayer together to glorify and thank God, bringing all our supplications to Him.

  • Law & Gospel

    The moral law of God reveals to us the holiness of God and the standard to which He calls us. It reveals our sin. It drives us to the Gospel and His gifts of grace, faith, the Holy Spirit, and salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Family Worship

    Responsibility for bringing little ones to Christ and leading them in the way they should go falls primarily to parents. Family worship in the home is encouraged and practiced by many members.
